Have You Considered God’s Call in eMinistry?

I’m sure you’ve heard the internet compared to the Roman Road of New Testament times.  Also, English might be compared to the Greek of New Testament times (we have an advantage with online translators, too, like Babel Fish). God used this Roman technology and a common language to advance the Gospel. Increasingly, the internet is where people go with their questions about God. (You might want to take two minutes to watch Kimberly’s story to see our model of win-build-send in one young women’s life.)

Of course, all true believers desire to glorify God and love people into His kingdom. (That’s why you’re reading this post, isn’t it?) Have you asked yourself what are you doing now or what could you prayerfully consider learning so you are ministering to more people more effectively using the tech tools available to you? (According to the video, all the people of the world may have access to the internet by 2015.)

  • Do you want to find ways to share your faith with your Facebook friends?
  • Have you considered starting to blog or tweet, but don’t know where to begin?
  • Have you started blogging, but wish you could touch more people with messages of hope and forgiveness?
  • Are you using email to connect with your partners, but you need more help to send a group letter with photos and hyperlinks?
  • Would you like to answer emails from people from other countries who want to learn about Jesus?
  • Would you like to use a hobby to connect with people online and then share your faith with them?
  • Are you using technology for MPD and communicating with your donor team?
  • Can you spare an hour with someone to help them get up-to-speed with something you’re already doing?
  • Would you like to help?   I’d love to hear from you!
  • You fill in the blank____________ !

Is this a priority for you?  Would you pray about what you may need to do differently?

How can we help you with eQuipping for eMinistry? You may or may not know how to use the technology or what to even ask to get started, but if you’re interested in exploring new ideas and seeing if God has an opportunity for you, then I hope this blog and the training we offer is of help to you.

Communication by Dickens in the 21st Century

“Electric communication will never be a substitute for the face of someone who with their soul encourages another person to be brave and true.” ~ Charles Dickens

What if Dickens had electronic communication? How would he use it? Or would he be on the sidelines, not joining into cyber communication?

Dickens, the blogger

Would he be blogging and later publish his posts as a book? Would he write a book, but promote it with a blog? What comments would he receive with this post:

“The crowds in the streets, the lights in the shops and balconies, the elegance, variety, and beauty of their decorations, the number of the theatres, the brilliant cafes with their windows thrown up high and their vivacious groups at little tables on the pavement, the light and glitter of the houses turned as it were inside out, soon convince me that it is no dream; that I am in Paris.” (from A Flight)

Dickens, the Online Missionary

Would he sign up to be an online missionary with Global Media Outreach or with EveryStudent.com to give that personal connection to those who visit evangelistic websites, seeking answers to life’s questions?

“Lord bless you!” he would write in his email, “a man must take the fat with the lean; that’s what he must make up his mind to, in this life. ” (from David Copperfield)

Dickens on Facebook

What about Facebook? Surely, such a man so fascinated by people and human nature, would have a Facebook account with a fan page. Perhaps his status would be:

“She’s a very charming and delightful creature. . . and has only one fault that I know of… It happens, unfortunately, that that single blemish is a want of taste. She don’t like me.” (from The Pickwick Papers)

Dickens’ Tweets

Of course, even though he is known for his great novels, he would be just as comfortable with Twitter. At this time of year, he might tweet:

“For it is good to be children sometimes, and never better than at Christmas, when its mighty Founder was a child himself.” (from A Christmas Carol)

What do you think? Would Dickens own a Kindle? What eBooks would he download? Add your quotes and ideas of Dickens in the 21st century.

Facebook Ministry Pages

You can help add to this list of Campus Crusade for Christ ministries’ Facebook pages.   Just comment below.

This list is more of a general list.  Having all the pages from campuses around the world would be too much to maintain, for instance, but if your campus ministry’s page works very well with your students, and would be helpful for others to learn how to set up their own pages, I’ll be glad to add your campus page to this list.  I obviously can’t include every ministry or every  country ministry, so hopefully, you will be able to find more ministries through searches, too.

Thanks for helping populate this list. You will help others find Campus Crusade ministries, staff, and resources.

Your Opportunity to Pray for One Million to Hear the Gospel

In March, Global Media Outreach began praying for “One Million People Days,” asking God to bring one million people from around the globe to look for answers about Jesus on their 100 GMO websites.

On March 24th and 25th, over 500 people joined GMO on a global conference call for a 48-hour prayer vigil which was divided into 48 one-hour-long sessions.  They closed the first evening with 1,094,614 visitors to all the sites and 111,859 indicated decisions for Christ, including an amazing 13,514 requests for follow-up. This gave 6,200 GMO volunteer Online Missionaries the opportunity to engage these new believers in discipleship.

The next day was even more incredible! One donor asked, “What would happen if we prayed for 1.5 million instead of one million?” As March 25th closed, the results were: 1,531,459 visitors, 144,030 indicated decisions, and 16,016 requesting follow-up and discipleship.

This outreach has paved the way for more “Million People Days.”   The next Million People Days are on April 20th, Good Friday and Easter Sunday.  As I write this, people are praying 9 AM to 9 PM EST today if you would like to pray, even for 15 minutes.

By following this link, you’ll be directed to a phone number and a code to enter.  Prayer sessions start on the hour, but you can call at anytime.   The leader will explain how you can participate by praying aloud if you would like to do so. Or you can just listen and agree in your heart with the prayers.

Your only cost may be for long distance charges; however, you may also use Skype or another VoIP service (phone calls over the internet).

Join the group who are praying right now (or on Friday or Sunday).
